Dr. Deanna D. Nguyen, MD

Senior Medical Director, Theravance Biopharma, San Francisco, USA

Dr. Nguyen is a gastroenterologist and Senior Medical Director in Clinical Development at Theravance Biopharma, Inc. serving as a clinical lead for Theravance Biopharma’s drug development program in gastrointestinal diseases.

Prior to joining Theravance Biopharma in 2015, she was a physician-scientist and a mucosal immunologist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, centering her clinical and scholarly activities on the topic of inflammatory bowel disease for two decades. Prior to her time serving on the faculty at MGH with an appointment at Harvard Medical School as Assistant Professor, she had completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemical Sciences at Harvard College, her medical degree at Harvard Medical School, and medical training (internal medicine residency, gastroenterology fellowship, and Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease fellowship) at MGH.

At Theravance Biopharma, she spearheads the clinical development efforts for the gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases program.  She also continues to see patients with inflammatory bowel disease at the San Francisco Veteran Association and serves on faculty at UCSF’s Department of Medicine as a volunteer Assistant Professor.  Thus, from different directions, her commitment to the field of gastroenterology and mucosal inflammation has spanned more than two decades and will continue to guide her career.
